All about me

So, while I should have been doing my on-line class tonight, instead I was looking around at other peoples blogs. Pretty fun, I have to admit. Oh, and I didn't do my class because the site wasn't up. So, I had a good reason. Anyway, on this one blog I found a blog in which the girl wrote things that she liked about herself. For me, that isn't something that I often think about, usually it's the other way around....things I don't like about myself. So, this will be good for me.
Here goes:
(oh and I even put two pictures of myself,(not all that flattering) because a few people have mentioned that there weren't any of me. these were taken tonight, freshies. :) )

I like that I am a laugher. I love love love to laugh. I can laugh at most things, even those things in life that laughter wouldn't be the first emotion that you feel. I remember when I was younger trying to master a laugh. I wanted a different laugh, so all day I went around trying out different laughs. When I pregnant I have the best laugh, it's a belly laugh, loud and boisterous.

I like that when I put my mind to something, I do it. Recently, as you all know, I have decided to run a marathon. It kinda came out of nowhere really. I was running about 3 miles (sometimes 4) everyday and I knew that I needed to break out of my comfort zone at some point. Then I met my friend Teri and she told me that she had just signed up for a marathon and that I should train with her. That was pretty much all it took. I realize I haven't done it yet, but I surprise myself after each long run that we complete. I will sometimes get in the car and clock the distance, out of sheer disbelief.

I like that I have good taste in men. :) I think I pretty much have the best one that there is.

I like my eyes. When I was younger I wanted them to be blue...now I just hope to have a baby with blue eyes (Berklie??? hers are grey). I learned at a young age that if I look at someone just right, I can get what I want. I learned that first with my dad. Now I use it on Mat. It doesn't take much really. :)

I also like my freckles. I had no idea that you could really bleach your skin to get rid of your freckles. They set me apart from other girls and I am pretty much tan year round (at least on my face). It's kinda nice.

I can't forget my sweet babies. I love that they are mine and that they both are cute and kinda look like me. :)

Right now I think I have great legs. They are buff from running a ton, super white, but buff.

I also like that I am a good friend. I love having good reliable friends and I feel like in order to get that from someone, I have to dish out the same service.

Ok, I think that is about enough. I feel better now. Try it, it's kinda refreshing really. I tag Nikkie, Kim, Anna, Sarah, Terri and anyone else that wants to do it.

slide show

So Carter and Berklie got tagged! This tagging thing is a new one for me. But, here is goes. 10 things about Carter and Berklie. I'll split it up since it's two kids, 5 about each of them.
1. Carter is pretty much the pickest eater ever. I think he gets it from his dad, but then again maybe it's from me. Anything with color, he won't touch...unless it's chocolate.
2. Carter says anything that he is thinking, to anyone. For example: Last summer Carter was out with me while we were talking to the neighbor and he looked up at her and said, "Enda, (Melinda) do you have big boobies?" Of course it was one of those times when everything he said came out loud and clear.
3. Carter loves his sister Berklie. He always tells us that she is his best friend.
4. His favorite show is Little Enstiens.
5. He loves his daddy to put him to bed at night and tell him a Giant story.
Ok Berklie
1. Berklie loves her yellow blanket, always has to have the yellow blanket from Great Gram.
2. She loves to eat.
3. She gives you bonks when she is really happy. I think it is her way of hugging you.
4. She loves her big brother Carter and has been known to cry when he's gone at pre-school.
5. She is a momma's girl. Some think it's annoying, but right now I love it. I know someday she won't want to be cuddled and loved by me, so I will enjoy it while it lasts.
Oh and we tag Melissa and Jessica.

Just rambling....

We have been doing some painting lately (which is a funny story...I'll tell maybe later) and so we have pictures on the ground propped against the wall where we want to hang them. Well tonight Berklie crawled up to the 8x10 of Carter and gave it a bonk and then smashed her face against it for a few seconds. It was so funny. I tried to grab the camera, but didn't get it in time. She loves her brother.
This is a picture of Berklie doing "kissie face". She loves to try to kiss, I think it's the sound that she likes. So she is always trying to do it. She wasn't having much luck in this instance because she has banana in her mouth.
Another attempt. She sucks in her bottom lip and then her eyes get really big. It is the funniest thing.
Mat was standing by the oven holding Berklie and she grabbed on to the handle with both hands and it was the perfect fit I guess because she put her feet on the handle below. It's hard to explain, good thing for the picture.
Carter loves to help feed Berklie, but it usually ends up with the two of them laughing, or her crying because he's not feeding her fast enough.
Second Easter Egg Hunt. This time in our backyard. The first one was at Grandma Bells, but all of her pictures were deleted!!

Great Grandpa and Grandma Oman. Berklie is sucking her thumb because she's just not quite sure about being held by someone other than mom. (what a fun stage...that was sarcasm)

We hid the Easter baskets (I mean the Easter bunny did) under the desk. Carter and Berklie's favorite place to play.

Carter and Berklie reading books.

I got a tu-tu for Berklie and Carter had to try it on as well. Is this how you wear it momma?

"It must be jelly cause jam don't shake like that"

Carter said to me the other day, "Mom, you have a big butt". Hmmm...so I said, "Do you have a big butt"? No, he said and giggled. "Does daddy have a big butt?" I asked him. He thought for a minute about his answer and then he said, "Yes, but his doesn't shake"!!! Oh man, I laughed so hard. He doesn't miss a thing. My Pops used to say to Gram, "it must be jelly cause jam don't shake like that". It's an inherited thing I think. :)

18 miles down

Well, I just have to say that I did it!! I ran 18 miles today in 3 hours. It was a crazy run, up hill the entire first 9 miles and then blessed downhill the last 9. Surprisingly though, downhill is hard too. I think I convinced myself somehow that 9 miles downhill would be a breeze. I wouldn't really call it that now. But, I did it and I even felt like I could have kept going. I know I know, it blows my mind too. Anyway, the marathon is quickly approaching and I WILL be ready!!! I have to admit though, I'm dead tired now. My legs are killing me and I can't move the rest of my body without moaning like an old woman. Oh and I'm loosing a toenail too. Awesome huh? Just in time for sandals too. By the way, I don't have any pictures of me running today, but you can picture it, me with a bright red face, real sweaty and tired.

Here we go.....

I couldn't get Carter to look up from his ski's, he was so fascinated by them!
All he wanted to do was go down the hill.

We took Carter and Berklie skiing a few weeks ago. Since I don't ski, I shouldn't be saying "we". I was no help at all, as you will see from the pictures. Mat is doing all the work. Berk on the belly, Carter on his skis between Mat's knees and then me, taking the pictures. Hey, I was good for something! Mat skied that way for about 15 minutes, which if you ask me is pretty impressive!! Carter loved skiing with his dad and couldn't get enough of it. After about 15 minuets I decided to take Berklie back to the car and let Carter and dad try out the rope tow. Carter did really good and he was really sad when we had to return his skies. I was surprised at how much Berklie liked it as well. She was so excited to be outside and loved going down the hill. I tried to ski that day as well, but it didn't work out so good. My ski's kept popping off and my legs were all to sore to try very hard anyway. But, since Carter loved it so much and Berklie, I am even more motivated to learn to ski. I just have to convince Mat to teach me now.
Oh and I'm sure you want to know, marathon training is going just fine. Lack of sleep and sore legs, no big deal!! My partner and I have started running twice a week at 5 am. It is actually easier to start earlier. Saturday we ran 16 miles in just over 3 hours!!! I can't believe it either. May 17th is the day and I'm stoked. Enjoy the pic's!!!
